Top Ten Shows To Watch on Netflix

Netflix logo
By Netflix [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons
It is no secret I love Netflix... It is really the best thing after chocolate ice cream, put these two together and you're in heaven. I already have a list of what I think are the Top Ten Foreign Movies on Netflix, but that's not all I watch. Netflix not only has a vast list of amazing movies, it also has tons of different shows, new and old, for all kinds of tastes. Girly shows? Yep. Science fiction shows? You betcha. Cops shows? Of course.

Here is my list of my top ten (not animated) shows to watch on Netflix:

10.  Gossip Girl -  With setting such as The Upper East side in NY, Gossip Girl is such a fun show to watch. I would say this show is more for the girly girl and totally my guilty pleasure, all seasons are there except for the last one, season six. This show is about beautiful designer dresses, parties and rich people problems.Oh, and love triangles. The shows main characters are: Serena van der Woodsen, Blair Waldorf, Chuck Bass, Dan Humphrey, Jenny Humphrey, Vanessa Abrams, Nate Archibald, Lily van der Woodsen and Rufus Humphrey. They are all ridiculously beautiful people, they all sleep with each other, back stab each other, lie to each other, but in the end love and help each other when needed. Crazy stuff happens, all while being documented by the unknown Gossip Girl (voiced by Kristen Bell), a blogger who makes their private lives not so private.

9. Nip/Tuck - From the creator of Glee, Ryan Murphy, it has all the seasons. This show had my attention from the minute I started watching. The show's main characters are Sean McNamara and Christian Troy. They are both plastic surgeons and their catch phrase is "tell me what you don't like about yourself," which they usually say at the beginning of each episode. Christian Troy is a womanizer with lots of issues dating back to his childhood, and Sean McNamara is a sensitive family man trying to do the best for his family. The show is dark, many times funny and sometimes even ridiculous, and you will see references to real world people and instances in some episodes.

8. Alias - It has all seasons. Jennifer Garner is such a badass chick as Sydney Bristow. She's a double agent for something called SD6. It's about a girl trying to do her job or taking out the bad guys and trying to keep her identity secret from her friends. With over 100 episodes full of action. This show is created by one of my favorite people of all time: JJ Abrams. You'll never get bored watching this show!

7. The Walking Dead - For those of you who like scary stories. The show is still ongoing, but you can find the first two seasons on Netflix. It is a drama about zombies! And a small group of survivors, well, trying to survive. Not for the faint of heart, this show is highly graphic and the walking dead are very, very gross looking!

6. Breaking Bad - There are four seasons on Netflix. This drama show follows a high school chemistry teacher - Walter White - making and selling crystal meth to try to leave something for his family after he dies. With the help of a former student, he starts selling the high quality substance, and quickly starts making money, as well as many enemies. As the seasons progress, we see Walter, a shy, nice man, become someone dark, almost evil as problems escalate and threatens the security of his family - and his business. It will keep you on the edge of you seat!

5. The League - There are three seasons on Netflix. This is like How I Met Your Mother (see number 2), but for more mature audiences. This show centers around six close friends: Kevin and his wife Jenny, Kevin's brother Taco, Ruxin, Pete and Andre, and how they compete to win the fantasy football league. The show is really funny as we follow the characters on their everyday lives. Taco's my favorite character, his personality is kind of like Patrick's from the SpongeBob Squarepants cartoon.

4. Weeds - You can watch seven seasons on Netflix. This show is about an upper-middle class woman - Nancy Botwin - who finds herself selling weed in her fictional city of Agrestic, California, to support her family's lifestyle after her husband dies. Nancy finds several problems along the way, and as the show progresses, Nancy's weed business gets bigger and thus her problem escalate. The shows characters are all great, but it is Nancy who makes the show a hit!

3. Raising Hope - Can a show get any cuter??? This show reminds me a lot of Full House. Maybe because the main character, Hope Chance (born Princess Beyonce), is played by the twins Baylie and Rylie Cregut, much like Michelle from Full House was played by the Olsen twins. This show is about a guy raising Hope as a single father (but with the help of his family), since he got a serial killer pregnant, and she ended up in the death row. All I can say is that all the characters are so funny, especially the beyond hilarious MawMaw! You can find the first two seasons.

2. How I Met Your Mother - I would have to say I had a hard time debating whether it would be Raising Hope or HIMYM number two. This show is compared to "Friends" a lot. It is about five close friends: Lily and Marshall, a couple who lost their virginity to each other; Robin Scherbastki, the Canadian TV anchor; Ted Mosby, the main character who falls in love too quickly; and Barney Stinson, the womanizer with funny catchphrases and different methods to make women fall for him. The show is usually told from Ted's perspective from the future, as he tells the story to his future children of how he met their mother (hence the name of the show).  You can find the first 7 seasons on Netflix.

1. Lost - Regarded as one of the best series of all time, you will find Lost is... well, that good. The show caught my attention from the very beginning, due to its amazing and confusing story lines. The characters are many, but they're so rich, developed and multicultural, and you either love them or hate them. It is of course, about a bunch of people lost in a mysterious island after a plane crash. The story is very much about the survivors trying to get off the island, but as the story develops, it becomes more and more complex, and towards the end, it leaves it up to interpretation of the viewer to make sense of the finale. You'll have to watch the show twice to understand a lot of concepts! You can find all the season on Netflix.

Honorable mentions: Terra Nova is a one season show about a people from the future traveling to the past to start a new life away from the pollution and restrictions of the future. Lie To Me has three seasons that were cut short due to low ratings. The show is about a man who's an expert on reading a persons body language and cues to determine whether someone is lying or not. They are both really good shows that shouldn't have been cut short!

Head & Shoulders Damage Rescue (Al Rescate) Review!

What it is and what it does:
New shampoo by Head & Shoulder's Damage Rescue will condition and nourish damaged hair and help relieve dry scalp.

My review:
I guess the new trend right now is "healthy scalp=healthy hair." Much like the new the new Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy shampoo, this shampoo helps damaged hair from the scalp. I've been using it for a few weeks now and I really like it! It has a wonderful light peach scent! I've dyed my hair several times, and with the daily styling it is just expected that my hair is weak and damaged. After using this shampoo a few times a week, it makes my hair smell wonderful, and I have noticed I am not losing as much hair as I normally do, and breakage occurrs much less when I brush my hair. The conditioner has a very thick and creamy consistency, and leaves hair manageable and super soft to the touch. This is completely different from what I would expect from Head & Shoulders, but I am very impressed!

Beautiful container too! Head & Shoulders shampoo and conditioner

Easy Styles with No nonsense

This post brought to you by No nonsense. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love leggings and tights. I especially love them during the winter time, because they can complement any outfit perfectly. If you want to wear a skirt of a dress for holiday parties or events but it's too cold outside, No nonsense comes to the rescue! No nonsense is one of my favorite brands, because not only are they available everywhere, they make ninety percent of their products if the US.  My style is very monochromatic, so I always try to put together outfits of the same color or similar colors.
Luckily, No nonsense has all kinds of styles and colors of leggings and tights! Here is one outfit I was able to put together, wearing No nonsense tights.

I wore this outfit for a dinner out with friends, it was cold and the No nonsense tights were so warm and comfortable, not to mention stylish! I love the pattern and the way they compliment my black dress. I got the tights in gray color, size S/M. I have to say that they fit perfectly, and mold the midsection wonderfully.
The second outfit I put together is this one (wearing No nonsense leggings):

This is an all-brown outfit. I love how comfy it looks. The No nonsense leggings are cotton, so they are so soft and comfortable. I love that they come in espresso color, because brown is one of my favorite colors to wear. The ones I’m wearing are a size small, and they fit comfortably, not tight at all.
More about No nonsense tights/leggings:
Also, Jill Martin will be teaming up with No nonsense.  How exciting! Jill Martin is a fashion expert, author of “I Have Nothing to Wear!” a New York Times Bestseller. She is someone women can turn to for fashion advice!  Her style is easy and effortless and she will be doing exciting things with No nonsense in the near future, I can’t wait.

NOTD - Easy French Christmas Mani!

Christmas is right around the corner, and what a better way to compliment that awesome outfit than with a festive manicure!

Nothing says Christmas like red, green or gold, or a combination of them. Here is one manicure I could come out with, super easy, French Christmas manicure:

First, I apply a clear bottom coat to protect nails. Then I used a red, shimmery red all over the nail (you can use Pure Ice Nail Polish, $4). Waited a few hours for it to dry. Then I used regular tape to cover the nail and just left the tip of the nail exposed. I then proceeded to cover the tip with gold nail polish (you can use the Next CEO by OPI). I waited for it to dry and took the tape off carefully. Then I covered with a top, clear coat when it was dry. Voila! You get a super cute and easy French Christmas manicure. You can also use green instead of red nail polish!

Cute, right?

Like every girl, I love shoes! I have tons of shoes from flip-flops to boots and flats. All my shoes are super affordable, thou I never lose hope to one day own those classic Louboutin black pumps! Ruffled faux-suede booties by Fahrenheit, $20 at or for $32. Super girly and stylish booties, also great for the winter and/or holidays. Style them with leggings, skirt, and a nice top.

Candies black peep toe pumps $35 at Kohl's, also faux-suede. I love these ones! Perfect with a fiery red pedi, skinny jeans and a fun top. Super comfortable with a 4-in heel.

Bamboo pink and red wedges. Lux-Shoe-Ry Boutique $15. Super awesome wedges. It really makes any outfit pop out! I love these shoes and I love the price. This shoe boutique has awesome shoes, and I've never seen then at better prices.

Goody Simple Styles Spin Pin

Product info:
The Spin Pin does the work of 20 bobby pins! Easily achieve chic updo styles; simply twirl your hair up and spin the Spin Pins in for a perfect top knot, undone bun and side bun!

My review:
I thought the product was very, very different and interesting. The packaging is interesting and awesome:

Here is what's inside:

Two twisty items that you can use to style your hair in creative and amazing hairstyles, any way you want!
To make a nice bun or simple pony tail you place one on the the base of your hair, one at the the bottom, and turn clockwise. In the packaging, it includes instructions on how to do any style, which is great. here is a simple one I created on the go:

Today I don't feel like doing anything...

No hair ties needed, no bobby pins, nothing, except the Goody pins. To take it off just turn each counterclockwise and voila! It's off. Make sure both pins don't intersect each other or else it'll be hard to take off.

Beautiful You Extravaganza Huge Giveaway Event!

Welcome to the Beautiful You Extravaganza Huge Giveaway Event brought to you by The Consumer Adviser.

Win over $600 in quality skin & personal care products, cosmetics and even a gadget.  Something for everyone!

My obsession with lotions and potions took root at a very young age.  Throughout the years I've grown to appreciate that the beauty industry is big business and my hard earned money was being squandered on a lot of inferior quality products comprised of chemicals and additives.  The only consolation these products offered was a mere hope of attaining beautiful skin.  When this hope failed to transpire then I sought more of the same, and soon I found myself in dept.  Read full story here

I came away from the experience much wiser and in the end I have discovered some gems.   The purpose of this event is to put spot light the good guys.  The ones that strive to produce a top rate product without compromising at the expense of the consumer.  Products that are truly natural.  Another bonus is that these brands are also cruelty free and vegan, although in one or two cases it is product specific.
The list includes: L'uvalla, Hylunia, SeabuckWonders, Vivoderm, Eden Allure, Moringa Source, Reviva Labs, Au Naturel Ayurveda, Annmarie Gianni.  Included in this event are Iderma for being a great overall beauty site, and ToiletTree Products for producing some amazing affordable products.

The conception of L'uvalla was the result of "outrage" in regard to lack of regulation in the skincare industry.  The words "organic" and "natural" are tend to be deceptive on labels.  L'uvalla products are truly organic, vegan, green and Bio certified and 100% natural.  Their high standards have resulted in quality products that deliver on results.

I discovered Hylunia via a blog promotion.  The name is derived from hyaluronic acid which is a powerful humectant.  What captivated me is that their quality line of vegan and organic skincare included anti-aging products with supreme anti-aging and age prevention ingredients such as Retinol and Peptides.   Hylunia is a perfect marriage of nature and science.

You may already be aware of the internal and external benefits of Sea Buckthorn, but you may not be familiar with SeabuckWonders.  They were the first to introduce this phenom resource to the states. They offer a skincare line that is both organic and vegan.  These products are simply lovely. They're not the first skincare line I've tried containing Sea Buckthorn, but they are by far the best.   They appear to sit quietly in the background while their inferior competitors take center stage.  I hope this changes.

VivodermNatural Skincare was one of the skincare lines that I came across that offered truly natural products.  So natural in fact, that a good percentage of the ingredients are actually edible.   Another example of science meets nature to produce products that are safe and effective.

How do Moroccan women maintain beautiful skin among harsh arid conditions? the secret is Argan Oil.  Eden Allure obtains their argan oil straight from Morocco.  Those that work hard to produce this product, no easy task, benefit from their hard work.   Eden Allure also retains strict standard for their oil by using a production method that ensures chemicals are left out and nutrients left in the product.  The consumer is getting a high quality product at a very competitive price.

Moringa Oleifera is said to be the most nutrient rich plant known. Moringa Source is a highly ethical company that happens to be the largest US manufacturer of this superfood.  Strict manufacturing standards results in a premium product.  The 100% Pure Moringa Oil is much like argan oil and contains many beautifying benefits and is very affordable.

Reviva Labs has been a permanent fixture in health foods stores throughout the US for quite some time. The Organic Cleansing Milk from Reviva Labs is fantabulous.  Actually there isn't a better quality cleanser at that price on the market anywhere!  All their cleansers are concentrated, so don't let the small size fool ya, they last like forever. I also love their bar soaps and specialty products.

Based on the principle of Ayurveda, Au Naturel Ayurveda offers purely luxurious quality bath and body products with an added bonus of aromatherapy.   Naturally high quality products that offer an  extravagance without breaking the budget.

Annmarie Gianni has such high standards for her line of skincare that she wouldn't even allow the minutest trace amounts of preservatives and additives to touch her products.  This is in spite of the fact that there's a lead-way in labeling  "natural" and "organic" products.   These products truly utilizes the wonders of nature and smell lovely.

I love my beauty gadgets.  The Professional Skincare System by ToiletTree has replaced my beloved Nutra Sonic. The simple rotating technology feels amazing on my skin and gets the job done.  No need to spend a fortune this unit delivers top results at a fraction of the cost.

Iderma is a fantastic site for a beauty junkie like myself.  They offer a bevy of various beauty and personal care items.  Iderma provides comprehensive details for each product along with a complete list of ingredients. They also promise the best prices on all their items or they will price match.

Along with my own trial and error, I've been approached and sent a plethora of products.  Many claiming to be natural.  Unfortunately labels such as "natural", "vegan" and even "organic" can be deceptive.  Then there are smaller companies that produce products that are strictly natural, but they fail to really deliver a quality product.  The brands listed above have all excelled in both areas. As y'all can see it really isn't a big list.  That really says a lot about the industry.

Now all of the peoples from these fine brands have offered a little something to the fine folks out there in cyber-land.

L'uvalla has generously offered to sponsor their Balancing System which consist of three full size products each designed to hydrate all skin types.   Gentle Foaming Cleanser, Rejuvenating Eucalyptus  Cleanser and the Balancing Day/Night Cream.  Valued at $110.00

Hylunia is sponsoring their Beyond Complex C. This is Packed full of anti-aging ingredients and retails for $84

SeabuckWonders is sponsoring their Natural Skincare Program. Four full size products include: Sea Buckthorn Body Lotion, Face Serum, Face Cleanser and Body Lotion.  You can purchase this system on their site for $73.84 sold separately the products amount to over $100

Au Naturel Ayurveda is offering full size products of their SHREE Jasmine Body Cleanser, SHREE Saffron Body Moisturizer and the SHREE Revitalizing Soap. A retail value of $50.00

Reviva Labs is offering the Organic Cleansing Milk, Tan Without Sun, Under Eye Dark Circle Serum and Seaweed Soap.  This is a $51.50 value

Vivoderm Natural Skincare is offering their amazing Anti-Aging Mask.  This retails for $75.00

Moringa Source is offering 2 ounce size of their Moringa Oil and 2 ounce size of their Moringa Body Butter.  $30.00 value

Eden Allure is offering a 2.2 ounce size of their Argan Oil and two organic bar soaps. $30.00

Iderma is offering the Glow Minerals Sheer Tint Base and the Glow Minerals Under Eye Concealer. $60.00

Products are offering their Professional Skincare System.  $32.00

Annmarie Gianni is offering the Aloe-Herb Cleanser that retails for $24.95
That is over 600 hundred dollars worth of some very fine products.    Hylunia and Reviva Labs are unable to ship to Canada, so if the first winner drawn is Canadian you will receive everything listed above except the products from Hylunia and Reviva Labs.  A second winner will then be drawn and will receive those products.

The giveaway begins on 11/13 at 12:01 AM and ends on 12/11 at 11:59 PM

Not Your Mother's Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream

I received Not Your Mother's Kinky Moves, which is a curl defining hair cream.

Product Information:

KINKY MOVES™ helps encourage natural curls by giving them that extra oomph they so desperately need. It eliminates frizz and fly-aways to show your true locks. Infused with natural grapeseed & jasmine this salon formula will add that extra bounce to your step.

- De-frizzes and detangles unruly hair
- Defines and enhances natural curly or wavy hair
- Adds shine
- Grapeseed added for UV protection benefits

My Review:

The container is really cute, purple is my favorite color!

This stuff is really great. It smells so good! Just like grapes and the fragrance lasts all day long!
I have naturally curly hair so this was perfect for me! Unfortunately, my natural curls look sad and ugly if I don't apply anything to them. And also, if I let it be, it tends to tangle up really bad.
Okay, so following the instructions on the back, I applied this product on my damp hair and crunched my curls and let it air dry. My curls were well defined and soft to the touch, not to mention my hair smelled amazingly.  At the end of the day, my curls were still define, and not tangled up at all! Bouncy, soft curls all day long! Love it! I love that it's also so inexpensive, only $6, that's something I can definitely afford and will buy again!

Curly Hair!

Where to buy: $6.00 at CVS, Walmart, and ULTA among many other retail locations
