Virgin Coconut Oil Review and Giveaway CLOSED

Last week I received a sample of Gold Label  Virgin Coconut Oil. And I have been busy cooking lots of stuff with it.

I have to say I am loving it!!! Really loving it.  And I’m going to tell you why, but first a little background information on the company called Tropical Traditions and what Virgin Coconut Oil is:

  • They use fermentation to extract the oil, which is using gravity to naturally separate the oil component from the water. This method has been used for hundreds of years in the Philippines.
  • The oil itself is solid at room temperature, but it can be made liquid at a temperature of 76 degrees F, just but putting it in a container with hot water. It is not recommended that the product be put into the microwave in order to be melted.
  • Tons of antioxidants and great source of energy
  • Delicious smell and taste
  • The coconuts are certified organic according to strict USDA standards.
  • Can be used pretty much in whatever food/recipe your mind can think of (baking, frying, even delicious shakes)
You can watch the video down below to learn a little bit more about the process:

I have been substituting regular oil or butter for Virgin Coconut Oil in pretty much everything I cook.  And let me tell you: Oh My God! Everything, I mean everything has that subtle toasted coconut flavor.  This is way different from what I am used to cooking. At home we eat lots of Latin foods, with chili, and lots of spaces.  To put it simply, this gives food sort of a tropical flavor which is way different from what I’m used to eating. It’s just so good. Some of the stuff I have been using it on is:
  • Popcorn
  • Grilled Chicken
  • Angel hair pasta
  • Quesadillas
Here are some pictures of the stuff I’ve been cooking, I could only hope you could smell it!!

Delicious creamy angel hair and shrimp pasta

It really was delicious, add coconut oil instead of butter to your pasta creations.

Make popcorn with coconut oil, and cheese dip.
