Sooooo Tesla likes to Fetch...

I discovered something unusual:
Tesla likes to play fetch. Like a dog. Really.

I used to have a Cocker Spaniel named Jerry (that I also got from the Humane Society) and I could never teach him how to fetch.
Just a few days ago, one of my friends gave me a toy bird for Tesla. The bird has feathers and it makes annoying bird noises. Since the bird is actually kind of annoying and loud, and Tesla was playing with it while I was watching something interesting on Netflix, I threw it across the room and she brought it back. I threw it again, and she brought it back. I kept doing this until I discovered that she was actually playing fetch. I never taught her this. I have never, ever thought of a cat bring anything back to me, much less play fetch.
This is one fun kitty with a serious identity crisis. Other than meow and climb curtains, she really doesn't do stuff that cats are supposed to do. And she's only 16 weeks old. I wonder what she'll do when she gets older... catch a frisbee? Anyway here is a video of my cat playing catch.

Well, it has been almost a month since I adopted my kitten Tesla (after the great engineer/scientist/inventor/genius Nikola Tesla) from the Humane Society. Things have been super fun having her around! I love her! Kittens in general are super energetic, fun and usually tend to destroy curtains. Yup, I still have curtains, they're just not pretty like they used to be.

Tesla is a very sweet, loving, and energetic kitten. She does the cutest and weirdest things:

- She loves me and I know so because she likes to lick my hair, as if I needed grooming and maybe I do.
- She thinks of me as a climbing pole, that's so sweet.
- She also thinks of herself as a parrot, since her favorite place to hang out is my shoulder.
- She likes to sing at night. She sings beautiful songs to me while I am trying to sleep. I was thinking of changing her name to Christina, after Christina Aguilera. But I can't change her name because she is actually starting to respond to Telsa.

- She has tons of toys. Somehow she thinks my makeup brushes are part of her toy collection and that her toy collection is some sort of Venus de Milo or Mona Lisa and should never be touched, that they're just there to be looked at.
- She likes to beg for food. Bad kitty!
- She likes to chase her tail. Really. Like a dog. I wish I had the energy to plug in my camera and take a good video of her. Maybe one day.
- She eats a lot. She's getting big!
- She also likes to watch YouTube videos of kitties meowing and she talks back to them. It's so cute!
- You know how sometimes dogs run around the house like crazy when you get home, so happy to see you? Sometimes Tesla does the same. lol True story.

Anyway, my kitty has been the perfect addition to my house. Now it actually feels like a home! Now, every time I hear a noise, I know it's Tesla, and not some ghost that's hunting my house.

Look how pretty she is:

Tesla is cute

Tesla likes to cuddle with my breakfast

Does your pet do any of this? Or anything weird? Does your pet have an identity crisis? Tell me about it.

Summer Target Beauty Bag!

I finally got my Summer Target Beauty Bag that Target was giving out a few weeks ago. This time I think Target gave out more Beauty Bags than last time! I also feel that I got it a lot faster than last time.

The first thing I thought when I was opening this bag was "Wow, it smells so good!."

The actual bag:

I actually liked the Spring Beauty Bag slightly better, mainly because it had pink in it. This bag is actually blue but for some reason it has green tones in the picture. The bag has a cotton fabric feel to it. Inside it has the tag "Contents by Allegro". I have never heard of this brand. Still, the print is cute and the bag is the same size as the last one.

What's inside:
Wow, here is where I was impressed!
  • Garnier Fructis Color Shield Shampoo and Conditioner -  One sample size each, for color treated hair (perfect for me).
  • Aveeno Active Naturas Shampoo and Conditioner - One sample size each, for medium thick hair (again, perfect for me).
  • Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunblock - A very good sample/travel size SPF 70, waterproof. I've had this one before and it's great.
  • TRESemme Split Remedy Shampoo and Conditioner - Sample/travel size, for split ends.
  • Revlor ColorBurst Lip Butter - Sample size in Peach Parpait.
  • A Target coupon booklet with $19 dollars off of brands like Aveeno, Garnier, CoverGirl, Jergens, among many others.

As you can see, tons of hair products for damaged hair, which is perfect for summer!
I am very impressed with the contents of this Summer Beauty Bag. I love everything about it! No wonder why it smelled so good.
I have heard they have these kind of giveaways a few times a year, so go ahead and like them on Facebook if you haven't already HERE.
Did you get one? I am particularly excited about trying the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter.

Thanks for reading!

Do You Love Bears? Do You Hate Cancer?

Oh man, if you love bears and hate cancer, please take a moment to read this:

UPDATE: So apparently, the lawyer kind of got his feelings hurt and now he's suing the National Wildlife Federation and American Cancer Society. These charities have nothing to do with the original lawsuit between the Oatmeal and FunnyJunk, NOTHING. Good job Charles Carreon, now you are probably the most hated man in America.

P.S. The fundraiser is up to $185,000. At this rate, The Mighty Oatmeal will x10 his original goal of $20,000.

SECOND UPDATE: The Oatmeal has officially surpassed $210,000. About 13,972 people have donated. Mr. Matthew Inman, you are amazing and your fans are too! There are three days left to donate to the charities, if you haven't already please, PLEASE, please do so by clicking the at the banner located almost at the bottom on this post. Thank you!!

Original Post:

Mr. Matthew Inman is one of my favorite bloggers of all time, not only because he's hilarious and can make any terrible day into a better day, but also because he has a heart of gold, not to mention he's intelligent.

Anyway, you may already know that he's the author of a highly popular blog called "The Oatmeal" which is one of the best blogs ever. You can find awesome jokes, and images like this:

Anyway, the reason for this post is to let everyone know that Mr. Inman is currently raising money for two charities: the National Wildlife Federation and the American Cancer Society. Why you may ask? Here is where I love Matthew Inman even more:

He got served from a website called, for using HIS images without giving him credit for it, and Matthew Inman writing about it on his site. Anyway, they are asking him to pay $20,000 in damages. In my opinion, this whole thing from FunnyJunk is ridiculous.  Well Mr. Inman in the funniest, yet kindest way possible, said he was going to raise that money and take a picture of the money raised, send it to them and then ask donate it to the aforementioned charities. He could have asked his fans for money to help him pay for his lawyers or fees or help him flee the country if he wanted to, and I'm sure his fans would've helped him anyway. But he chose to make the best of a bad situation and make it totally awesome! If only more people did that for others!

Mr. Inman has a HUGE fan base, and HE RAISED $20,000 IN 64 MINUTES!!!!

Anyway, the charity is open for two weeks, so if you would like to make a small contribution, like I did, please go here:

It sounds a lot funnier when he tells it, so please read the whole story here:

Mr. Inman, I love you, all of us do.

Bringing Baby Home

I have always had animals around me. Like, all my life. So when I moved away to a place where there were none, I was sad.  I begged and begged the land lord to allow me to have a pet, anything. I think at that point I was desperate and I would have gotten a fish if I could've. Then I got the okay to be able to have a small pet. Just imagine how excited I was!!! Literally jumped up and down screaming yay!!!

And then the search started! I looked on Craigslist, the animal shelter, the Humane Society, classified ads, the internet, Facebook, etc. I was primarily looking for a cat. A couple of Craigslist adds caught my attention: one for a chinchilla (because I've never owned one) and one for a ferret (because I guess I have never owned one either, haha). I guess I was feeling a little adventurous. But anyway, I'm more of a cat person than a dog person, though I like both and I would not mind having a small puppy.  So there was this add on Craigslist that really caught my eye: it was an ad for kittens to a good home, they were yellow and black and they had green eyes, about 10 weeks old and oh so cute! So I grabbed the phone and I called the person. She said she had two left (out of five) and sure we could meet sometime that day in the afternoon.

So all excited, I traveled about 20 miles to meet them. When I got to the house, I was met by the owner, and she said she could not find the kittens. I guess the momma kitty had noticed that her kittens were being taken away so she had hid them somewhere outside the property (I'm guessing about a couples of acres of forest, yeah imagine finding them), because there were nowhere to be found inside the house. I left heart broken. :'( Like literally, I almost cried. So feeling quite sad that I did not get my kitty, I thought to myself that it would probably be a whole lot better if I just went to the animal shelter and spent the $80 dollars for a cat. After thinking that, I felt excited again! So I went to Walmart and bought everything I needed to welcome my new baby home: litter box and litter, toys, dry and wet food, a small bed, and bowls for food and water. I forgot to buy a carrier, I guess that's probably very important. :/

Anyway... so there I go, to the shelter, and I was received by a very nice girl at the front desk. If it wasn't for the sign that read "dogs and cats" I would have thought I walked into a hospital. It was a very nice facility, very clean.

There were so many beautiful cats, of all colors and ages, and sizes. And they all looked at me, some even said hi through the glass windows. The volunteer lady told me to take my time. After a few minutes of looking I told her I wanted to see one in particular. It was a female white and tabby kitten named Frannie. She was about 10 weeks old and she was so cute!!! So, they took me to this "interacting" room, and told me to wait a few minutes. Then they brought Frannie into the room and left me alone for about ten minutes so I could interact with her. She fell asleep on my lap, and though she was a little shy at the beginning, I could hear her purr while I pet her. I said, yup, this is the one! And I was on the way to filling up paper work to take her home. They gave us a cardboard pet carrier, since I did not have one, and off we went! She cried all the way home.

That was yesterday.

The first night home, she did not fall asleep, she thought that playing with my hair is a far more appropriate activity to do at night. When she did sleep, she refused to sleep on her bed, but thought my chest was more comfy. She does not like to play with her toys much, but shoe strings. Fortunately, she is littler box trained, and eats her food without problems.

I also did not think she looked like a Frannie, so I changed her name to Tesla (the greatest genius who ever lived, and no, not nerdy at all).

You cannot imagine how happy I am! Thank you, Humane Society for giving me such happiness, and making my adoption process so pleasant, easy, and fast.

Right now she is sleeping next my laptop. I guess she likes the warmth.

I love my new kitten!
